About HUBBUS Paper
HUBBUS Paper is a collection of hand-drawn motifs and prints rooted in my own family life and the world my children move through every day.
The inspiration comes from specific situations, moods and character traits I have observed in my three children — both individually and together. The figures in the universe don’t represent specific people one-to-one, but are composite expressions of moods, relationships and dynamics.
The main character — the girl — is inspired by my own daughter, Otta. Many of the other figures and motifs have emerged from the interplay between her and her two older brothers. Out of that, a small, fictional and self-chosen family has grown, one that now lives on in the HUBBUS universe.
The motifs are created using different techniques and expressions. Some are pure line drawings, others have been worked with wax crayons or oil pastels, and a few are selected linocut prints and watercolour paintings. The differences in expression are deliberate and reflect mood, pace and situation.
All motifs are hand-drawn by me. They have subsequently been professionally scanned and printed on 275 g paper in a slightly off-white. The paper has a visible texture that closely resembles the drawing paper the illustrations were originally created on, preserving the feeling of their analogue origin. Originals are noted in their description
HUBBUS Paper is not intended as decoration alone, but as small visual stories — quiet, simple and open to personal interpretation.
