About HUBBUS Paper

HUBBUS Paper is a collection of hand-drawn motifs and prints, inspired by my own family life and the world my children inhabit every day.

The inspiration comes from specific situations, moods, and character traits I have observed in my three children – both individually and together. The figures in this universe do not represent specific individuals one-to-one, but rather are composite expressions of moods, relationships, and dynamics.

The main character – the girl – is inspired by my own daughter, Otta. Many of the other figures and motifs emerged from the interaction between her and her two older brothers. From this, a small, fictional, and self-chosen family has grown, which now lives on in the HUBBUS universe.

The motifs are created using various techniques and expressions. Some are pure line drawings, others are developed with beeswax crayons or oil pastels, and some are selected linocuts and watercolor paintings. The differences in expression are deliberate and reflect mood, pace, and situation.

All motifs are hand-drawn by me. They are subsequently professionally scanned and printed on 275 g paper in a slightly off-white tone. The paper has a visible texture that closely resembles the drawing paper on which the illustrations were originally created, preserving the feel of the analogue starting point. Originals are stated in the title.

HUBBUS Paper is not intended as decoration alone, but as small visual narratives – calm, simple, and open to personal interpretation.
